Prima Nexus ran ELISA workshops at UiTM, Universiti Malaya and UKM, and sponsored ICAMS 2017

From the Prima Nexus archive: a look back at January to April 2017.

PUTRAJAYA, 18 April 2017: Prima Nexus sponsored the 3rd International Conference on Advances in Medical Science (ICAMS 2017), organised by the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), at Marina Bay Putrajaya on 19 and 20 April 2017. On 18 April, the day before the conference opened, Prima Nexus ran an ELISA hands-on workshop at the department, after ELISA workshops at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Sungai Buloh in January and at Universiti Malaya (UM) in April.

A demonstration at UiTM and a full day at Universiti Malaya

In January, Prima Nexus ran an ELISA demonstration workshop in the Protein Assay Lab of the Institute of Medical Molecular Biotechnology (IMMB), UiTM Sungai Buloh, as the January session of the Prima Nexus Discussion Series 2017. On 5 April, Prima Nexus and CMBL ran a one-day hands-on workshop in the lecture hall and laboratory of the Medical Biotechnology Laboratory, Faculty of Medicine, UM, in Kuala Lumpur. Its programme went from the principles of ELISA through the preparation of reagents, standards and samples, plate washing and detection to reading the absorbance and analysing the data, with a talk on multiplex immunoassays, which measure several targets in one sample.

A workshop the day before ICAMS 2017

At the UKM Department of Pharmacology on 18 April, Surani Sukor and Kimmy Lai of the Prima Nexus life science team led the April session of the Prima Nexus Workshop Series 2017. A talk on the common types of ELISA covered sandwich ELISA and its advantages and disadvantages, and in the laboratory participants pipetted into a microplate at the bench. Participants received a certificate of attendance. Over the next two days the department held ICAMS 2017 at Marina Bay Putrajaya, with a theme of innovation and research: delegates met in the conference hall for talks on medical science, and research posters were on display.

Prima Nexus organised the workshops at IMMB and at the UKM Department of Pharmacology, co-organised the Universiti Malaya workshop with CMBL, and was a sponsor of ICAMS 2017, as it had been of ICAMS 2015.
