About the congress
The Malaysian Society of Pharmacology and Physiology (MSPP) held its 28th Scientific Meeting as the Pharmacology & Physiology International Scientific Congress 2014 (PPISC 2014), from 22 to 24 August 2014 at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur. It ran together with the 13th Symposium on Vascular Neuroeffector Mechanisms (VNEM), the 6th Scientific Meeting of the Asian Society for Vascular Biology (ASVB) and the Malaysian Society of Hypertension (MSH).
Topics, talks and posters
Besides the classic fields of pharmacology and physiology, the congress gave particular attention to the heart and blood vessels: how they work, how medicines act on them, and how cardiovascular disease is treated. Other topics were natural products and medicinal plants, and traditional and complementary medicine. Researchers presented talks and posters, and doctors and pharmacists who registered could earn continuing education points. On the last day, oral sessions ran in four rooms, including a young investigator award competition, before the prize-giving and closing ceremony.

Prima Nexus sponsored the congress, after the organising committee accepted its sponsorship in July 2014. It sponsored MSPP's scientific meetings again in 2016 and 2017. Teams that test new medicines in animal models can work with Prima Nexus on in vivo animal studies.
