Prima Nexus sponsored a bacteria and fungi workshop at UPM and three science conferences in 2019
UPM's Department of Microbiology taught participants to identify bacteria and fungi over three days in October. Prima Nexus sponsored it, and three conferences in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, on tropical medicine, molecular biology and oral microbiology.

PUTRAJAYA, 19 November 2019: Prima Nexus sponsored the Biochemical and Molecular Identification of Bacteria and Fungi Workshop, run by the Department of Microbiology of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), from 29 to 31 October 2019. During the year it also sponsored three conferences: the 55th Annual Scientific Conference of the Malaysian Society of Parasitology and Tropical Medicine (MSPTM) in March, the 3rd International Conference on Molecular Biology & Biotechnology (ICMBB) at UCSI University in April, and the 2nd International Conference on Oral Microbiology and Oral Immunology (ICOMOI) in November.
Identifying bacteria and fungi
Participants spent three days in the laboratory of the Department of Microbiology, learning to identify bacteria and fungi by biochemical tests and by molecular methods, and Prima Nexus sponsored the workshop. Biochemical tests tell microbes apart by what they can break down or make, while molecular methods read their DNA. The photos show participants in lab coats at the benches, a trainer demonstrating a step, and work with culture plates.
Tropical medicine and molecular biology
The Malaysian Society of Parasitology and Tropical Medicine held its 55th Annual Scientific Conference at InterContinental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, on 13 and 14 March. Parasitology is the study of parasites, such as the worms and single-celled organisms behind many tropical diseases. On 24 and 25 April, UCSI University held the 3rd International Conference on Molecular Biology & Biotechnology at its Kuala Lumpur campus in Cheras. Prima Nexus sponsored both.
Oral microbiology, and Prima Nexus as a sponsor
MySOMOI held the 2nd International Conference on Oral Microbiology and Oral Immunology at Palm Garden Hotel, IOI City Resort, Putrajaya, on 19 and 20 November, with Prima Nexus as a sponsor. At UPM in 2019, Prima Nexus also held ELISA and cell culture workshops and co-organised two rodent care and use workshops.
