Prima Nexus worked with Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2019, from Kubang Kerian workshops to Penang conferences

From the Prima Nexus archive: a look back at March to September 2019.

PENANG, 25 September 2019: Prima Nexus worked with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) through 2019. On 25 July it co-organised a one-day ELISA demonstration workshop and multiplex talk with the Central Research Laboratory (CRL) of the School of Medical Sciences, at the USM Health Campus in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan, and in September it sponsored an animal care workshop at the same campus. In Penang, it sponsored two USM conferences: the International Conference on Aging 2019 in March and the 4th International Conference on Molecular Diagnostics & Biomarker Discovery in September.

ELISA and multiplex in Kubang Kerian

The workshop ran for one day at the Central Research Laboratory, and Prima Nexus co-organised it with the laboratory. An ELISA detects and measures a specific protein in a sample, and a multiplex immunoassay measures many proteins in one sample at the same time. The day covered the basics of both, the key criteria for choosing a kit, and high-throughput protein detection, and included a demonstration at the laboratory bench. The photos show participants seated at the benches and a trainer demonstrating while participants watch.

Animal care at ARASC

On 19 September, Prima Nexus sponsored the Animal Care and Management Series 2 Workshop, held by USM's ARASC at the Health Campus in Kubang Kerian. Prima Nexus had co-organised a seminar with ARASC at the same campus in March 2018, on appropriate animal models and the animal facility, told in our 2018 story on laboratory animal science.

Two conferences in Penang

USM held the International Conference on Aging 2019 (ICA2019) at Eastin Hotel Penang on 8 and 9 March. On 25 and 26 September, USM's INFORMM held the 4th International Conference on Molecular Diagnostics & Biomarker Discovery (MDBD 2019) at Hotel Equatorial Penang. Prima Nexus sponsored both conferences. In the same year, it held four hands-on ELISA workshops at UPM.
