Prima Nexus Sponsors UiTM Professorial Lecture by Prof. Dr Kalavathy Ramasamy, “Listen to Your Gut”

SHAH ALAM, SELANGOR, 14 August 2026: Prima Nexus Sdn Bhd sponsored the Professorial Lecture by Professor Dr Kalavathy Ramasamy of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), entitled “Listen to Your Gut”, held on 14 August 2026 at Mercure Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie, Shah Alam. The faculty held the lecture during IPNaCS 2026 and IPoPS 2026, its two international conferences, in the year of its 25th anniversary.

A lecture on the gut

A professorial lecture is a public lecture in which a professor presents a body of research to colleagues, students and guests, and the faculty marked this one as an academic milestone for Prof. Dr Kalavathy. She has been a professor at the UiTM Faculty of Pharmacy since 2019. A microbiologist by training, she works on functional foods such as probiotics, prebiotics and synbiotics, on drug discovery from microbial products, and on the links between the gut and the brain and between the gut and the liver, according to her faculty profile.

Her title played on a familiar phrase: the title slide read “Listen to your heart”, with “heart” struck out and replaced by “gut”. The lecture ran from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, and one of its closing slides thanked her research collaborators and the students who have worked with her.

The lecture sat within the faculty's two international conferences: the 8th International Conference on Pharmaceutical, Nutraceutical and Cosmeceutical Sciences (IPNaCS 2026) and the 11th International Postgraduate Conference on Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPoPS 2026), held on 13 and 14 August 2026 under the theme “Connected Innovation: Digital Transformation in Wellness, Longevity and Therapy”. The conferences marked the 25th anniversary of the UiTM Faculty of Pharmacy. Prima Nexus has supported the faculty's conference before, as a sponsor of IPNaCS 2015 in Melaka.

Prima Nexus sponsored the professorial lecture through the Faculty of Pharmacy, and was named on screen with Yakult and BITCOM among the lecture's supporters. Research on the gut often runs from the bench to animal models and to biomarkers measured in blood, and Prima Nexus supports that kind of work through its animal studies, its ELISA and Luminex multiplex immunoassay services and its wider research platforms.
