Prima Nexus talks and workshops on multiplex testing, SPF animals and ELISA at UKM, UPM and UCSI in 2015

From the Prima Nexus archive: a look back at April to October 2015.

KUALA LUMPUR, 1 October 2015: In 2015, its second year, Prima Nexus gave talks and workshops of its own at three Malaysian universities. In April it was invited to run a workshop on specific pathogen free (SPF) animals and multiplexing at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). In May it organised a seminar with the Institute of Bioscience at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and in June it was invited to give a talk at UCSI University. On 1 October it organised an ELISA Demonstration Workshop at UCSI University's Kuala Lumpur campus.

A workshop at UKM's Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Day

The Faculty of Pharmacy at UKM and its Postgraduate Society organised Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Day 2015 on 15 and 16 April at the UKM Kuala Lumpur campus, under the theme "Moving Towards Scientific Excellence". The first day was given to two pre-seminar workshops. In the morning, Prof. Dr. Simon Gibbons of the UCL School of Pharmacy led a workshop on writing a manuscript for a Q1 journal. In the afternoon, Prima Nexus was invited to deliver Workshop 2 in the T1BE Hall, on the importance of SPF animals and innovation in multiplexing. Surani Sukor of Prima Nexus led it together with James Hoffman. Prima Nexus also sponsored workshop places for postgraduate students of the faculty, and the organisers thanked the company in the event programme book.

A seminar at UPM and a talk at UCSI

On 29 May, Prima Nexus organised a seminar with UPM's Institute of Bioscience (IBS), titled How We Can Expedite Protein & Gene Profiling Study, in the Tongkat Ali Emas Seminar Room on the fourth floor of the institute in Serdang. On 30 June, Prima Nexus was invited to give a talk at UCSI University, Multiplex Innovation and Introduction to SPF Animals. SPF animals are laboratory animals bred and kept free of a set list of infections, and a multiplex immunoassay measures many proteins in one sample at the same time.

An ELISA workshop at UCSI University

On 1 October, Prima Nexus organised an ELISA Demonstration Workshop in the Molecular Lab on Level 4 of Block C, at the South Wing of UCSI University's Kuala Lumpur campus. An ELISA detects and measures a specific protein in a sample. The next year, Prima Nexus ran a series of hands-on ELISA workshops, told in our 2016 story on the Prima Nexus Workshop Series.
