KUALA LUMPUR, 4 October 2015: Prima Nexus sponsored five research weeks and research meetings at Malaysian universities in 2015. In May it was a sponsor and an exhibitor at the Faculty of Medicine Research Week at Universiti Malaya (UM), and a sponsor of the Postgraduate Colloquium on Medical Sciences (PCOMS) 2015 at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). In August and September it sponsored two meetings at UKM Medical Centre: the 17th Medical and Health Research Week and the 7th Medical Undergraduates' Annual Scientific Research Meeting (MUASRM). On 4 October it sponsored the MAHSA Inaugural Research Conference 2015 at MAHSA University in Kuala Lumpur.
Research Week at Universiti Malaya
Research Week is an annual event of UM's Faculty of Medicine, and 2015 was its third. The week, from 11 to 15 May, was organised by the Department of Pharmacology and the Department of Pharmacy under the theme From Powder to Pill & Pill to Heal. Each day opened with a plenary lecture, among them Gautam Sethi of the National University of Singapore on targeting the STAT3 pathway in cancer. Symposia on drug discovery, drug formulation and delivery, metabolic syndrome and pharmacy practice followed, with workshops in the afternoons. A poster exhibition with judging, a booth exhibition and a cover art competition ran through the week at Centrepoint, where the Prima Nexus team was among the exhibitors.
Postgraduate and undergraduate research
The Faculty of Medicine and the Institute of Medical Molecular Biotechnology (IMMB) of UiTM organised PCOMS 2015 in the Main Auditorium at UiTM Sungai Buloh on 25 and 26 May. It was planned for postgraduate students, with talks on stem cells, zebrafish in cancer research, scientific writing and data analysis, oral and poster presentations, the Young Scientists Award, a best poster award, a career talk and a walk-in interview session. On 21 September, UKM's Faculty of Medicine held MUASRM 2015 in the Auditorium, Lecture Halls 1 and 2 and the Galleria of UKM Medical Centre.
Two more meetings, and Prima Nexus's part
UKM Medical Centre (PPUKM) held its 17th Medical and Health Research Week (Minggu Penyelidikan Perubatan & Kesihatan Ke-17) from 8 to 14 August, in the auditorium of the Kompleks Pendidikan Perubatan Canselor Tuanku Ja'afar at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz. MAHSA University held its inaugural research conference in its auditorium on 4 October, with topics that included cancer and immunology. Prima Nexus sponsored all five events, and in 2019 it sponsored the 21st research week and MUASRM 2019, told in our 2019 story on UKM events.
