Prima Nexus ELISA workshops at UPM, UiTM, Nuclear Malaysia, USM and Universiti Malaya, October to December 2017

From the Prima Nexus archive: a look back at October to December 2017.

KUALA LUMPUR, 14 December 2017: The National Orthopaedic Centre of Excellence for Research and Learning (NOCERAL), Universiti Malaya (UM), held its annual orthopaedic research seminar on 14 December 2017 and, the next day, an ELISA workshop co-organised by Prima Nexus. From late October, Prima Nexus had also run ELISA workshops at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in Serdang, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Sungai Buloh, the Malaysian Nuclear Agency in Kajang and the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Health Campus in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan.

Data analysis at UPM and UiTM

On 25 October, an ELISA hands-on workshop and data analysis session in the UPM ELISA Hands-on Workshop Series took place in the Human Anatomy Laboratory, Level G, Department of Human Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UPM, co-organised by the department and Prima Nexus. On 31 October, Prima Nexus and the Institute of Medical Molecular Biotechnology (IMMB) at UiTM Sungai Buloh ran a pilot workshop, Get Your ELISA Curve Ready in Minutes, in the IMMB computer laboratory. Participants fitted standard curves to their own data with free software, and the session also covered presenting results in theses and journal articles, troubleshooting and an open discussion.

Kajang, Kubang Kerian and Universiti Malaya

On 8 November, Prima Nexus organised an ELISA hands-on workshop in Block 37 of the Malaysian Nuclear Agency in Kajang. At the Central Research Laboratory of the USM Health Campus in Kubang Kerian on 29 November, students and staff from several departments and research groups, including the Institute for Research in Molecular Medicine (INFORMM), followed one full ELISA run with a rat/mouse insulin ELISA kit, from preparing the reagents, standards and samples to reading the plate and analysing the data.

At UM on 15 December, students, scientists and orthopaedic surgeons working in basic research took part in the ELISA workshop in the NOCERAL laboratory, the day after NOCERAL's research seminar, which it held with the ASEAN Orthopaedic Research Section, the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Research Society and the Malaysian Orthopaedic Association.

Prima Nexus's part

Prima Nexus organised the Nuclear Malaysia workshop and co-organised the other four with their host departments. It proposed the Kubang Kerian workshop to the School of Medical Sciences in October 2017, and there it gave a talk on the power of multiplex immunoassays, which measure several targets in one sample.
