Prima Nexus Opens Biomarker Research Fund 2.0 for Malaysian Researchers

Applications for BRF 2.0 close on 30 September 2026, or earlier if all 20 places are filled.

PUCHONG, SELANGOR, 24 August 2026: Prima Nexus Sdn Bhd has opened the second cycle of its Biomarker Research Fund (BRF 2.0), an in-kind initiative run with its biomarker research principal, Elabscience Bionovation Inc., to help Malaysian researchers expand their biomarker panels without adding pressure to already limited research budgets. BRF 2.0 is limited to 20 selected research groups nationwide, with applications accepted on a rolling basis until 30 September 2026.

Why a research fund

Research grants are increasingly limited, and many biomarker studies are held back by budget and access rather than ideas. The fund grew out of a discussion early in 2026 between Prima Nexus and its global immunoassay manufacturer, Elabscience, on how to secure additional support specifically for Malaysian researchers.

The first round opened in March 2026. By the end of July, the fund had onboarded 13 institutions across Malaysia and supported 35 biomarker research projects for validation and screening studies, with applications from research teams at UiTM, UMS, UKM, USM, UPM, MSU and Sunway University, among others. Encouraged by the response, Prima Nexus secured a three-month extension with its principal, from July to September 2026, so that more researchers could benefit.

More than a kit

An in-kind kit only creates value when the full panel performs as planned. That is why BRF 2.0 goes beyond providing an additional ELISA kit: every selected applicant receives access to Prima Nexus technical support throughout their panel. If a standard curve looks unusual, background rises across replicates, or a well-to-well result does not make sense, the team helps review the issue and decide the next step.

Selected groups are also supported with ELISA kit consultation, biomarker selection guidance, sample workflow discussion and research planning, across diverse sample types and study designs, from clinical samples to preclinical animal research.

How BRF 2.0 works

• Open to researchers and postgraduate students at Malaysian universities and research institutions.
• For every five ELISA kits in a single order, Prima Nexus funds one complimentary full-size kit (the lowest priced of the six).
• Orders can be combined within the same quotation, and delivery can be scheduled later to suit the project timeline.
• Researchers may apply more than once, as long as the funding terms are met each time.
• The Prima Nexus team responds to each application within five working days.
• Kits are for research use only, not for diagnostic procedures.
