Prima Nexus supported health research at I-SIHAT 2026 with an industry fund for research of RM10,000 (Sumbangan Dana Industri Kebangsaan). The fund was presented to Assoc. Prof. Dr Asmah Hamid of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) on 23 June 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, at the 15th International Health Science Symposium (I-SIHAT) and the 3rd AUAP International Health Science Conference 2026, organised by UKM with the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP).

I-SIHAT 2026: innovation and global collaboration

Deputy Minister of Health Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib officiated the symposium and conference, with the Vice-Chancellor of UKM, Prof. Datuk Dr Sufian Jusoh, in attendance, as TV Sarawak reported. The theme was Exploring New Frontiers in Health: Innovation and Global Collaboration.

In her speech she said that innovation in healthcare is no longer a choice but an essential need for the country, and that the main challenge now is to connect Malaysia's strengths, from its universities to its health infrastructure, in one complete and integrated ecosystem. She named non-communicable diseases such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and mental health disorders as a growing burden.

Why it matters to Prima Nexus

Prima Nexus works with university and hospital research teams across Malaysia, on services such as ELISA and Luminex testing and genomics. Supporting researchers directly, through industry funds like this one and the Biomarker Research Fund, is part of that work. Prima Nexus thanks UKM and AUAP for hosting I-SIHAT 2026.
