BANGI, 24 October 2016: Prima Nexus sponsored three microbiology meetings between August and October 2016: MSMPS 2016, the Malaysian Society for Microbiology Postgraduate Seminar, at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in Bangi on 24 August; a WHO training workshop held with the GLEAN.MyLepto 2016 workshop at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) on 4 and 5 October; and the 1st MGI-UKM-CosmosID Conference & Workshop on Microbial Metagenomics at the Malaysia Genome Institute in Bangi on 24 and 25 October.
A seminar for microbiology postgraduates
The Malaysian Society for Microbiology organised MSMPS 2016 jointly with the Faculty of Science and Technology at UKM, at the faculty's Kompleks Kedekanan in Bangi. The seminar revived a postgraduate seminar that had earlier run under the auspices of UNESCO, and it was open to postgraduate students from public and private universities across Malaysia. The one-day programme included a keynote lecture and oral and poster presentations by the students, in agricultural, food, industrial, environmental, medical and general microbiology, and in microbial genomics and molecular biology. The day also included student awards and the launch of a student chapter of the American Society for Microbiology.
A WHO workshop at UPM and metagenomics in Bangi
On 4 and 5 October 2016, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UPM, held Bengkel Latihan WHO sempena Bengkel GLEAN.MyLepto 2016, a WHO training workshop held with the GLEAN.MyLepto 2016 workshop, at its Department of Medical Microbiology and Parasitology in Serdang. On 24 and 25 October, the Malaysia Genome Institute and UKM held the 1st MGI-UKM-CosmosID Conference & Workshop on Microbial Metagenomics at the Malaysia Genome Institute in Bangi.
