Prima Nexus sponsors delegate folders for ICID 2015, the 1st International Conference on Innovative Dentistry

From the Prima Nexus archive: a look back at August 2015.

PETALING JAYA, 3 August 2015: Prima Nexus sponsored the folders, A5 notepads and pens given to delegates at the 1st International Conference on Innovative Dentistry (ICID 2015), organised by the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya, at the Eastin Hotel, Petaling Jaya, on 3 and 4 August 2015.

A new international conference for dental research

The Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya, had run a series of postgraduate dental scientific conferences. In 2015, the eighth in that series became the 1st International Conference on Innovative Dentistry, under the theme "Enhancing Dental Science Through Innovation". The faculty set three aims: to advance research for better oral health services, to help clinicians and researchers share ideas, and to give new research findings a platform. Over two days, the conference combined invited lectures with oral and poster sessions.

Invited lectures and research sessions

The programme listed four invited lectures. Professor Colman McGrath of The University of Hong Kong spoke on patient reported outcome measures in clinical practice and research. Professor Dr Adam Husein of Universiti Sains Malaysia spoke on publishing case reports. Professor Kim Jin of Yonsei University College of Dentistry spoke on the molecular mechanism of DNA damage in oral cells linked to areca nut exposure. Professor K. Ranganathan of Ragas Dental College and Hospital spoke on stem cells in dentistry.

The oral and poster sessions covered topics such as dental pulp stem cells, oral cancer cell lines, bone tissue engineering and 3D facial analysis.

Prima Nexus supported the conference as a sponsor. It provided Prima Nexus folders, A5 notepads and pens for the delegates, and the conference committee confirmed the contribution in writing before the event. Several of the studies presented were laboratory work on cells, tissues and molecules, such as bone remodelling molecules in ameloblastoma and cancer stem cells in salivary gland tumours.
