Scientists working on transcription, gene regulation and RNA biology met in Penang for ACT-XV, and in mid-August proteomics researchers met in Kuala Lumpur and young chemists in Penang. Prima Nexus sponsored all three conferences.

PENANG, 16 August 2017: Prima Nexus sponsored the 15th Asian Conference on Transcription (ACT-XV), held at the Jen Hotel, Penang, from 31 July to 4 August 2017 and organised by the ACT committees and the School of Biological Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). In mid-August it also sponsored the International Proteomics Conference 2017 (IPC2017) in Kuala Lumpur, from 15 to 17 August, and the 6th International Conference for Young Chemists (ICYC2017) in Penang, from 16 to 18 August.
An Asian meeting on transcription
The Asian Conference on Transcription began in Taipei in 1990, set up by five senior scientists as a forum where Asian researchers could share their findings and build links across the region. Malaysia had hosted it once before, in Kuala Lumpur in 2002. The 2017 programme covered transcription, gene regulation, post-transcriptional regulation, RNA biology, applied transcription, advanced technology in transcriptional analysis and systems integration.
Keynotes, speakers and posters
The keynote speakers were Professor Frans J. de Bruijn of the National Institute for Agricultural Research, France, and Professor Stephen Lory of Harvard Medical School, USA. Featured speakers came from Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore, China, Korea, New Zealand, Thailand and the USA, and research posters were on display. On 1 August, Prima Nexus was on site with a stand and a photo booth, where delegates had their picture taken in front of a Prima Nexus backdrop.
Proteomics in Kuala Lumpur and young chemists in Penang
The Malaysian Agricultural Proteomics Society (MAPS) held IPC2017 at the UNMC Kuala Lumpur Teaching Centre in Chulan Tower from 15 to 17 August, and the School of Chemical Sciences at USM held ICYC2017 at St Giles The Wembley Hotel, Penang, from 16 to 18 August. Prima Nexus was a sponsor of all three conferences.
