PUNCAK ALAM, 17 May 2017: Prima Nexus sponsored the 5th International Postgraduate Conference on Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPoPS 2017), organised by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), at its Puncak Alam campus on 17 and 18 May 2017. The conference ran under the theme Concerted Research Towards Holistic Healthcare through Pharmaceutical Sciences.
A conference for postgraduate researchers in pharmacy
IPoPS 2017 was the fifth edition of the International Postgraduate Conference on Pharmaceutical Sciences, held at the UiTM Faculty of Pharmacy in Puncak Alam, Selangor. The invited speakers' fields were toxicology, pharmacogenomics, clinical pharmacy practice, bioorganic chemistry and bioinformatics. The conference poster also listed workshops, including basic training on the flow cytometer and on HPLC, laboratory animal necropsy and histology, basic formulation of cosmetic products, systematic review and meta-analysis, and a method for detecting adulterated honey. The organisers announced that submitted abstracts would be published in the International Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, a Scopus-indexed journal.
Keynote and invited speakers
The keynote lecture took place on 17 May in the DK500 Hall. It was given by Prof. Dr. Gerald M. Cohen, Chair in Cancer Pharmacology at the University of Liverpool, on Apoptosis, the BCL-2 Family and Cancer Chemotherapy. Prof. Cohen is known for his research on the basic mechanisms of apoptosis. The other invited speakers were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surakit Nathisuwan of Mahidol University, Thailand (pharmacogenomics), Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mansor Manan of KPJ Healthcare University College (clinical pharmacy practice), Prof. Dr. Shin Aoki of the Tokyo University of Science, Japan (bioorganic, bioinorganic and supramolecular chemistry), Dr. Peter J. Bond of the Bioinformatics Institute, A*STAR, Singapore (bioinformatics), and a toxicology speaker from PETRONAS.
Prima Nexus's part
Prima Nexus supported the conference as a sponsor and supplied folders, pens and A5 notepads for the delegates. At the venue, Prima Nexus set up a photo booth with a branded backdrop, where delegates could take a picture, share it online and collect a printed instant photo, and a lucky draw box.
