Prima Nexus sponsored ICADD 2015, the first International Conference on Antioxidants and Degenerative Diseases

From the Prima Nexus archive: a look back at June 2015.

KUALA LUMPUR, 3 June 2015: Prima Nexus sponsored the first International Conference on Antioxidants and Degenerative Diseases (ICADD 2015), held on 3 and 4 June 2015 at the Istana Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The conference was organised by the Antioxidants, Ageing and Degenerative Diseases Research Group of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), and Prima Nexus provided the conference bags and the printing of the programme book and name tags.

A first conference on antioxidants and degenerative diseases

ICADD 2015 was hosted by the Antioxidants, Ageing and Degenerative Diseases Research Group of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, together with the Faculty of Medicine, UKM. It ran over two days in the Mahkota 2 ballroom of the Istana Hotel under the theme "From Molecules to Human". The organisers set out to bring molecular biology research and clinical applications together, and to give researchers and clinicians a place to share new findings and build research links. Abstracts for oral and poster presentations came from at least 15 countries, including Japan, Korea, India, Turkey, Egypt, the United States and Malaysia.

Plenary lectures, symposia and posters

The programme opened with a plenary lecture by Professor Enrique Cadenas of the University of Southern California on lipoic acid, brain ageing and a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease. In all, there were six plenary lectures and four symposia. The symposia covered antioxidants in metabolic diseases, antioxidants in degenerative diseases, updates in technology in antioxidant research, and the future direction of antioxidant research in health. In the first symposium, Professor Nafeeza Mohd Ismail spoke on antioxidants and metabolic syndrome, and Dr Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman gave a clinical view of antioxidants and cardiovascular disease. Free communication sessions, a judged poster session and a breakfast workshop on natural product research completed the programme.

How Prima Nexus supported the conference

Prima Nexus was listed among the sponsors in the programme book. Prima Nexus sponsored the conference bags for delegates, which carried the conference design on the front and the Prima Nexus name on the back, and the printing of the programme book and the name tags. Name tags were printed for 162 participants, 16 speakers and 22 committee members.
