About the symposium
i-SIHAT 2015, the International Symposium of Health Sciences, took place on 11 and 12 August 2015 at the Mines Wellness Hotel, Seri Kembangan. The Faculty of Health Sciences at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) organised it under the theme "All For Health". Over the two days, researchers and clinicians from universities, hospitals and the Ministry of Health Malaysia met for talks, forums, oral papers and poster presentations.
What the programme covered
Professor Gary D. Rogers gave the opening keynote on interprofessional learning and collaborative care. Later talks covered health and wellness in urban society (Dr Chong Chee Kheong, Ministry of Health Malaysia), mental health across the life span (Associate Professor Dr Alvin Ng Lai Oon, Sunway University), emerging infectious diseases (Datuk Dr Christopher Lee Kwok Choong, Sungai Buloh Hospital), palliative care (Associate Professor Dato' Dr Fuad Ismail), healthy eating (Dr Tee E-Siong) and frailty in older people (Professor Ng Tze Pin).
Four forums discussed children with special needs, wellness, care of older people and multidisciplinary research. Young investigators and other researchers presented free papers in parallel sessions, and delegates viewed research posters in the hall during the breaks. The symposium closed with an award presentation on the second afternoon.

Prima Nexus was one of the sponsors. It sponsored the delegate bags and printed materials. The bags carried the i-SIHAT 2015 details on the front and the Prima Nexus name on the back. Prima Nexus also sponsored pens, folders and notepads for the post-conference symposium, Ageing in Malaysia: from Molecules to Community, held on 13 August 2015 in Kuala Lumpur. Today, health sciences research groups can send their samples to Prima Nexus for ELISA and Luminex testing.
