Faculty of Medicine Research Week 2015 (FOMRW2015): From Powder to Pill & Pill to Heal
Universiti Malaya's Faculty of Medicine held its third annual Research Week from 11 to 15 May 2015. Prima Nexus was invited to take part as an exhibitor and sponsored the delegate bags.

A week of research at the Faculty of Medicine
Research Week is an annual event of the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. The 2015 week was organised by the Department of Pharmacology and the Department of Pharmacy under the theme From Powder to Pill & Pill to Heal. It was open to everyone on campus and to invited guests, and it set out to show the research under way in the Faculty, in particular in these two departments.
Lectures, symposia and workshops
Each day had a morning plenary lecture. Gautam Sethi of the National University of Singapore spoke on targeting the STAT3 pathway in cancer, and Kozo Takayama of Hoshi University, Japan, on the tableting process. Symposia followed on drug discovery, drug formulation and delivery, metabolic syndrome and pharmacy practice, with speakers including Ivy Chung, Looi Chung Yeng and Tan Choo Hock of Universiti Malaya.
Workshops in the afternoons covered hands-on pilot-scale tablet making, measuring oxidative stress in cancer cells, scientific writing, bioequivalence studies, and a hands-on session on basic animal behaviour techniques used in preclinical studies, led by Vijayapandi Pandy of Universiti Malaya. A poster exhibition with judging, a booth exhibition and a cover art competition ran through the week at Centrepoint.
Prima Nexus at Research Week
Prima Nexus sponsored the tote bags handed to delegates, together with pens and sticky notes. The back of each bag read Bag & Printing Sponsored By, above the Prima Nexus logo. Its team was also among the exhibitors at Centrepoint. Today Prima Nexus supports researchers who run preclinical work of this kind through its animal studies service.
